The Affordable Care Act has been in force, ICD-10 has been implemented, and increased HIPAA Security Rules are underway. What more can you face? Plenty. One of the first lessons doctors learn once they actually get into practice is that you are all in the business of medicine. The business of medicine is made up of multiple layers of challenging issues occurring at the same time. New laws and regulations occur at least annually, and often more frequently. They may be at the federal, state, or local level. Often they are more specific, originating from state to federal legislative enactments. Sometimes it can be difficult to separate the business side from your professional side, because the two sides often are intertwined and integrated.
